Early this Monday morning, Eulalio Gomes, a Paraguayan deputy, died when he faced gunfire with the Intelligence Service of the South American police.

The Paraguayan deputy was shot several times while the intelligence service searched his home .

Gomes, who died on the spot despite appropriate assistance, was under investigation for his alleged links to drug trafficking. The operation, called 'Pavo Real II', also involved the search of the home of the deputy's son, Alexandre, who has an arrest warrant, reports Venezuela News.

Gomes is considered part of the 'chartist' line of the Colorados, in reference to former president Horacio Cartes, who in turn is being investigated for his alleged connection with the murder of anti-drug prosecutor Marcelo Pecci, executed in May 2022 in Colombian territory.
