The Venezuelan para-swimming delegation left an indelible mark on European waters after an outstanding participation in the fourth edition of the Open Water Cup of World Para Swimming 2026, held off the coast of Sardinia, Italy.

The Criollos scored important victories for the country in the 3-kilometer races: Andrés Finol (Class S14) won the gold medal after impeccably completing the 3-km race.

For his part, Ivanosky Marichal (Class S6): won the silver medal in the 3 km race, while Cristhian Requena (Class S10) achieved a valuable 5th place in the same distance.

The athletes' performance was supported by the planning and management of the coaching staff composed of coaches Kevin Ramírez and Amancio Gutiérrez, whose strategy was key to positioning the national tricolor at the top of the international podium.

In this edition of 2026, around 20 elite parathletes from seven countries (Australia, Croatia, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden and Venezuela) were measured in the waters of the Mediterranean.
