The national director of Civil Protection for Risk Management, Juan Carlos Oti, informed that the rescue and emergency care corps are planning work to ensure that in 2026, the same effects will not occur due to the flooding of the Orinoco River.
In statements offered to Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), he indicated that “we are in the community and not at the desk or office, we are watching and analyzing to determine what we can do in the short, medium and long term.”
“We are going to look for structural solutions so that next year when we return to the rainy season our people will be less affected (...) the climatic part has brought higher rainfall and that is why there is a rise in river levels compared to previous years, including 2018 when there was significant growth,” he said.
He added that, hand in hand with the National Government, they are carrying out care in the affected areas.
