Peronism decisively defeats Milei's party in Buenos Aires legislative elections

With more than 80% of the votes counted, Fuerza Patria obtained almost 47%

Peronism prevailed in the legislative elections in the province of Buenos Aires with an advantage of at least 13 percentage points, dealing a resounding setback to the La Libertad Avanza (LLA) party of the president of Argentina, Javier Milei.

Preliminary data from the Buenos Aires Electoral Board give the victory to the opposition coalition Fuerza Patria led by Governor Axcel Kicillof, with 46.93% of the votes. Libertarians ranked second, with 33.86% of the votes cast, according to a Fuser New press report.

The third place was occupied by the Somos Buenos Aires coalition, with 5.41%; while in fourth place was the Left-Unity Front with 4.38%.

Peronism, in addition, has won in six of the eight electoral sections that make up the province, including categorical victories in the two most populated districts.

Carlos “Carli” Bianco, Minister of Government of the Province of Buenos Aires, reported that Fuerza Patria triumphed “in 99 municipalities out of 135 municipalities” of Buenos Aires, with a participation level of 64% of the electoral roll.

In these elections, 23 incumbent provincial senators and 15 alternate senators, 46 incumbent provincial deputies and 28 alternates were elected. Municipal authorities were also elected as councilors and school counselors in 135 municipalities in Buenos Aires.
