A plane from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) landed in the country with a significant shipment of medical supplies, emergency kits and essential medical supplies, aimed at strengthening comprehensive care for communities affected by the earthquakes of last June 24.

Institutional spokespersons reported that this shipment is part of the deployment of international solidarity assistance immediately activated by the government of Spain, with the purpose of cooperating with local authorities in mitigating the humanitarian effects left by the double earthquake.

The health authorities explained that the medical resources received at the airstrip will be classified and distributed as a priority in the hospital network and on the triage fronts activated in the areas with the greatest geographical impact, ensuring a timely provision for rapid response teams.

Finally, the consular agencies specified that at the same time permanent monitoring is maintained to update the balance of citizens of Spanish nationality who may have been affected by the tragedy, while logistical support is being coordinated in the field to support the search and rescue efforts that are still being carried out in the country.
