Two murals by renowned Venezuelan visual artist Felipe García were inaugurated on Panteón Boulevard in the Bolivarian Libertador Municipality of Caracas.

The works, which now adorn this busy space, were unveiled as a result of the process of cultural transformation employed by the Gran Misión Viva Venezuela, Mi Patria Querida, which seeks to open up opportunities for expression to national talents such as García.

The initiative aims to revitalize public spaces through art, by beautifying the capital and encouraging appreciation for local culture. The main mural pays homage to Simón Bolívar and was made by García in 2021, in addition to the restoration of two existing works in the plaza of the Cultural Mission.

Felipe García is known for his figurative style and his bold use of color to represent characters inspired by Caribbean culture, mythology and indigenous tradition.

“Creating art in such a busy space as Pantheon Boulevard is a privilege. My intention is that these works not only embellish the environment, but also invite the people of Caracas to stop, to reflect on our identity and to reconnect with the history of this beautiful city,” said the artist.
