The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies Rómulo Gallegos (CELARG), in collaboration with the Juan Calzadilla National School of Poetry, held an emotional poetry recital to commemorate Chilean President Salvador Allende 52 years after the coup that overthrew his government.

The meeting brought together poets and poetesses who shared reflections and verses in honor of the tragic events of September 11, 1973.

In this regard, the president of CELARG, Pedro Calzadilla, stressed the importance of the event both for the institution and for the Venezuelan people. “The Bolivarian Revolution has one of its sources in the Chilean Revolution, as Chávez said,” he said.

The participants Christian Rodríguez, Isaias Cañizalez, Argelia Silva, Leonardo Ruiz and David Gómez shared their reflections, evoking the historical and human meaning of this date for Chile and all of Latin America.
