The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, repudiated this Thursday the hatred expressed by the extreme right candidate Edmundo González Urrutia against women, and thus ratified the feminist nature of the Bolivarian Revolution.

“Imagine that tomorrow someone from these people (extremist opposition) comes around and the women ask you why did you say that about Venezuelan women? Do you know what he or she is going to say? That's a lie, that's the first thing they're going to say because they're shameless, they're manipulative,” Cabello said from a popular mobilization in Biscucuy, Portuguesa, referring to González Urrutia's misogynistic statements.

However, he stressed that the People know “that's what they really feel”, so he pointed out that “Venezuelan women should open a debate throughout Venezuela to condemn the attacks.”

He indicated that “any government can have policies for women, but in a Revolution policies must be aimed directly at women. A revolution must have a feminist character, a revolution must have the character of respect for women, of tolerance for women and that women assume the leadership role as they have always been in revolution”.
