The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), during his usual morning press conference, declared that he will wait for the decision of the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) in Venezuela to issue a declaration together with the leaders of Colombia, Gustavo Petro and of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The president reported that he would speak again with Petro and Lula on the issue of Venezuela; López Obrador said that “not now, because we are going to wait for the Electoral Tribunal to resolve it, because it is still in process.”

“I think that on Friday of this week they will decide on the minutes and on the results. We are going to wait,” said AMLO.

On August 8, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico reaffirmed in an official statement the advisability of allowing the impartial verification of electoral results in Venezuela, respecting the fundamental principle of popular sovereignty.
