As part of the continuity of the work agenda developed by the president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, in the Caribbean country, she paid a visit to the headquarters of the Grenada Parliament, where she was received by the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell, and the highest legislative authorities of the Nation.

In this context, it is important to note that the reception of the President in Charge was led by the Honorable Dessima Williams, President of the Senate (in office since August 2022), and the Honorable Leo Cato, Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The meeting between these authorities took place in the modern parliamentary complex inaugurated on June 21, 2018, an infrastructure that symbolizes the resilience of the people of Granada, after the destruction of their original building due to the passage of hurricane Ivan in 2004.

The meeting was attended by the Foreign Minister of Grenada, Joseph Andall, the Minister of Agriculture, Lennox Andrews, the Minister of Health, Phillip Telesford, and other authorities.

On behalf of the Venezuelan delegation, the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, the Sectorial Vice President of Communication and Culture, Miguel Ángel Pérez Pirela, the Minister of Hydrocarbons, Paula Henao, the Minister of the Office of the Presidency, Juan Escalona, the Minister of Popular Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, among others.

On the other hand, this visit reinforces the will of both countries to establish mechanisms for direct dialogue not only between Executives, but also between their legislative bodies.

Grenadian Parliament

It is interesting to note that the parliamentary system in Granada is composed of its 29 active members, which makes it possible to tighten the legal framework necessary to protect the cooperation agreements recently signed between Venezuela and Grenada in agriculture, energy and education.

With this activity, the bonds of brotherhood and between both nations and the forms of government and the institutionality of the sister peoples of the Caribbean are strengthened, and they contribute to the consolidation of a State agenda that transcends economic cooperation to also strengthen political, cultural and social ties.
