The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, received this Wednesday the delegations of athletes who participated in the Valledupar 2026 Parasuramerican Games and the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.

“It's really exciting because of the happiness they have given Venezuela in their performance (...) they each arrived with their medal on their chests and as I say, that medal on their chest is also on the chest of the Venezuelan people,” said the president in charge.

He highlighted that despite adversity, after the double earthquake of last June 24, Venezuelan athletes participated in international sporting events.

“Both the Para-South American Games and the Central American and Caribbean Games, when our delegation came out in the parade, the rostrum was raised to offer loving congratulations and solidarity with our people,” he said.

He stressed that the 89 medals won in the Para-South American Games and the 216 medals won in the Central American and Caribbean Games are “an expression of what we want in our youth, a youth that strives, a youth that has discipline because athletes must have an iron discipline, prepare themselves, not only physically, but psychologically.”
