From the Miraflores Palace, where she led a meeting to provide an Overview of the Amnesty and Release Process being carried out in the country, the President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, stressed the need to build a new model of justice that guarantees the Human Rights system.
“We must build a new model of criminal justice in line with the Human Rights system,” he pointed out while requesting that this initiative be exempt from politicization and partidization.
“I ask that there be no political or partisan use of a process that genuinely seeks the transformation of the criminal system in our country,” he remarked.
He indicated that this new model, in addition to guaranteeing impartial justice, without political, social or economic discrimination, must also consolidate the new police model of relations with citizens.
“I have also asked, I have talked a lot about it with the sectoral vice-president of Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, which has to do with a new relationship between the citizen and the police officer; to correct what must be corrected, that the police officer does not feel offended, but that the citizen does not feel disrespected by those who want to extort him, want to pressure him. There has to be a new relationship between the citizen and the citizen security official,” he said.
In this regard, I anticipate that as part of the proposals considered to be evaluated is the construction of a National System for the Protection of Defenders and Families.
“That this national protection system serves to fully guarantee human rights for all, is a human rights system where I am also referring to the citizen security official who must have their human rights respected. There we are in an integral process, so we have to order the entire system, not a part, it's the whole system so that criminal justice truly becomes an effective mechanism for the protection and guarantee of human rights, but also for the criminal justice system to point out democratic coexistence in Venezuela, a criminal justice system in accordance with the most sublime values of the human being,” he explained.
