The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, has raised a strong complaint against the United States for the recent bombings carried out by his army against boats in the Caribbean Sea, a tactic that, according to the president, amounts to “assassinations” and violates international law, and supports Venezuela's warnings about armed aggression that seeks the appropriation of resources.

In that regard, President Petro demanded that the United States government submit the list of people who have lost their lives following the recent bombings in the Caribbean.

“The White House official is obliged to show the names and origins of the people who were murdered in the Caribbean with missiles,” said the Colombian president on his account on the social network X, in response to a request from the White House to retract the possible Colombian nationality of the crew members of the last vessel attacked.

The US military deployment in the Caribbean Sea, under the pretext of the fight against drugs, has replaced routine arrests with lethal attacks, described by international organizations as “extrajudicial executions”.

In addition, Petro announced this Thursday, October 9, his support for Qatar's mediation proposal with Washington, in order to stop these lethal attacks.

“I support the proposal that Qatar mediates between the Caribbean and the United States, to change the policy around launching missiles at poor Caribbean youth that only leads to murder,” he said.

He also supported the initiative of U.S. Senator Adam Shiff to call a vote to put an end to U.S. war actions in the Caribbean, which Congress has not authorized, considering them a “war risk.”

In addition, the Colombian president asked Qatar to maintain its mediation in the effort to dismantle Colombian drug trafficking groups.

At this point, he indicated that there is an “international cartel called Junta del Narc o”, composed of former narcos imprisoned in the United States, which now focuses on the European market.
