Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland), the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, stated that he would like to see international law re-established and the global financial system changed.

The Colombian president referred to the need to reestablish “the power of international law, which, in his opinion, has practically fallen to pieces.”

Quoted by the newspaper Última Noticias, President Petro ratified his proposal to exchange debt for climate action for countries of the global south and referred again to the obligation to modify the dimension to address the climate crisis.

The Head of State of Colombia believes that “the 100 billion dollars per year stipulated after 2020 in the Paris Agreement to help emerging economies to face the consequences of climate change have become insufficient, and that they are no longer anything.”
