The President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, received at the Miraflores Palace the new chargé d'affaires of the United States embassy, John Barrett, appointed by the Donald Trump administration.
Barrett assumes the administration initiated by diplomat Laura Dogu to promote a long-term strategic and productive partnership, the Ministry of Popular Power for Communication and Information (MIPPCI) reported on its website.
Senior Venezuelan authorities participated in this meeting, including the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil and the sectoral vice-president of Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, in order to address outstanding issues and work for the benefit of both Peoples.
John Barrett has an outstanding track record as a career member of the U.S. senior foreign service, having held key roles in countries such as Peru, Brazil, China and Afghanistan.
His strong academic background and experience in strategic planning at the State Department reinforce his role in Caracas. This new diplomatic phase seeks to consolidate a map of mutual cooperation that includes a constructive energy agenda, sovereign alliances and the strengthening of binational trade relations.
In the context of this approach, Venezuela confirms its position as a strategic partner, having the largest oil reserves in the world, guaranteeing a secure supply to U.S. refineries.
With the reception of Barrett, the Bolivarian Government led by the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez reaffirms its willingness to establish ties based on cooperation and respect.
