President in charge Rodríguez reports air reconnection with Colombia as a tourism strategy

At the end of a meeting with the Head of State of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, the president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that air reconnection between the two countries has been planned in order to promote multidestination as a tourism strategy.

He stated that the gradual recovery of trade, which went from record lows of 50 million dollars to 1.2 billion dollars last year. “It doesn't make sense for Colombia or Venezuela to look to other latitudes for products that we can get in our territories. We must think as a single people that are reunited under their productive potential,” he said.

In his words, Rodríguez argued that “it was an unnatural fact to keep our border closed in populations used to commercial exchange, populations used to intense mobility and that undoubtedly meant, well, the violation of their human rights.”

“At the time, we thanked President Petro for taking this important step and for allowing us to participate and be part of this historic decision,” he said.

Finally, the president in charge thanked President Petro for his solidarity since the beginning of the year and reaffirmed the commitment of the Bolivarian Government to the concept of unity of the Liberator Simon Bolivar to consolidate freedom and international respect for both nations.
