The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, expressed his rejection of the decision of the United States Government to revoke the visas of the prosecutors of the South American nation involved in the trial of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
Lula described the U.S. action as an unjustified interference in Brazilian proceedings and reiterated his support for the affected judges.
“My solidarity and support to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) ministers affected by another arbitrary and completely unfounded measure of the United States government,” Lula said.
The measure affects Judge Alexandre de Moraes, other members of the Supreme Federal Court, and others.
These statements by Lula came hours after the Supreme Court ordered Bolsonaro to use a surveillance device and remain in Brazil as part of the charges against him for trying to annul the results of the 2022 presidential elections. He was also banned from approaching foreign sources and using state or party communications.
