The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, questioned the legitimacy of drug investigations in Latin America, noting that “85% of the billions in annual international drug trafficking are in banks in the United States (USA). There's the cartel, let them investigate and find out.”

In this regard, during his interview with the Russian media outlet RT conducted by Rafael Correa, he highlighted the hypocrisy of the United States that does not investigate its own internal networks, knowing that from there it “directs all drug trafficking”.

“There is the Northern Cartel, which is clandestine,” he said, stressing that the campaign against Venezuela is part of the war plan of the American empire to try to force its political, economic, cultural and military hegemony in the world.

“It's impossible for me to do this because a new multipolar world has emerged, which is a fact; the new power regions are already a fact,” he said.

In the same way, he reaffirmed that “Venezuela is free from the phenomenon of drug trafficking; here there is not a single hectare planted with coca leaves, there are no cocaine laboratories and what enters through the border, we destroy ourselves.”

He explained that “87% of the cocaine produced in Colombia comes out through the Pacific, 8% comes out through the north of the Colombian Guajira and 5% tries to pass through Venezuela, where we managed to seize and destroy more than 70%, official figures from the World Organization against Drug Trafficking.”

In addition, he noted that the World Customs Organization indicated in its report that “all cocaine is being transported in Ecuadorian shipping companies and companies.”
