In order to consolidate Venezuela's third line of territorial defense and national sovereignty, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced the start of a new strategic plan for the creation and strengthening of the Peasant Militia.
The head of state commissioned M/G Orlando Romero Bolívar, commander of the Bolivarian National Militia (MNB), to draw up a plan for a higher level, polished and perfected, over a period of 60 days, with the purpose that the organized peasant people have their own militia, integrated, productive and articulated with the principles of the Bolivarian model.
From the Caracas Polyhedron, where he led the Peasant Congress to begin the formation of Peasant Councils in Rural Communities, he described the initiative as a wonderful task, besides stressing that it represents the perfect union between the peasant who produces and the patriot who defends, a popular, peasant and military fusion.
He also stressed that the security of the nation is based on co-responsibility between the State, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), the Bolivarian National Militia (MNB) and the organized people.
He emphasized that this strategy is inspired by Bolivarian historical roots, evoking the General of the People Ezequiel Zamora, who in Santa Inés built the Popular Army on the basis of military-peasant union.
