Any criminal group in Colombia that attempts to pass into our territory will be combated by our Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), said the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
“We have been and are victims of violence, of Colombian drug trafficking, which is why an armed group from the neighboring country that passes into our territory will face the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and the constitution of Venezuela,” he said during a meeting with national and international media.
In this regard, the President emphasized that our country has historically tried to mediate to help achieve peace in Colombian territory, which has been experiencing a war for more than 50 years. “We could say that peace processes in Colombia have always been betrayed,” he said.
On the other hand, he recalled that in the neighboring country there are eight US military bases, which were installed to supposedly combat drug trafficking but which have served to increase the production of cocaine.
“They (the United States) said: With military bases, the production of coca and cocaine ends. But with these, production tripled. Take stock and explain why those military bases didn't work,” he said.
