President Maduro: Eight thousand homes affected after hurricane Beryl hit

From the Presidential Command Post, the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, provided an assessment of the damage suffered to homes in Cumanacoa, after the heavy rains caused by the hit of hurricane Beryl. He reported that during the night hours of this Tuesday in Cumanacoa in the state of Sucre, the balance of damage amounted to 8,000 homes, with different levels of damage.
“The census shows us 400 houses with total loss, three schools with almost total loss, a total of 1,200 houses slightly affected (a wall, part of the roof or other elements) which will be attended to by the Great Mission Barrio Nuevo, Barrio Tricolor, as well as worker personnel who will repair the houses without any delay,” he explained.
He added that there are 80 families in temporary shelter, who are being treated with food, medicine and everything they may require. “The La Manga Basic School, La Manga High School, the Public Library and the University Village of Cumanacoa, as well as the San Lorenzo Basic School, serve as shelters. In addition, there are two collection centers,” he said.
The Head of State stated that “the plan that has been perfected for Civil Protection and for Civic-Military-Police Union has been in operation since 4 a.m. Thanks to joint action and working with aplomb, we have started to solve”.
