President Maduro honored Jorge Rodríguez father 49 years after his planting

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, paid tribute to the revolutionary leader Jorge Rodríguez (father) on the occasion of commemorating 49 years since his “vile assassination”.

Through his Telegram account, the president pointed out that the Revolutionary “was subjected to the most brutal and cruel tortures, but he, with his immense loyalty, courage and the depth of his dreams, faced his tormentors and defeated them in morals and dignity.”

He also specified that “his charism and vision of the country made him a unique figure, a symbol that inspires us with his courage, strength and intelligence. To remember this young man is to evoke the courage of an entire generation that rose up against oppression and dreamed of building a free and just Venezuela.”

Finally, he condemned his murder by the right wing. “He was a martyr for true democracy, whose life was cut short by the barbarism of those who feared truth and justice. Their sacrifice sowed the seed of a struggle that we continue today with the same conviction and a daily reminder that commitment to the Fatherland and to the People does not allow hesitation.”
