President Nicolás Maduro insisted that
it is necessary to continue consolidating the model of direct, popular, participatory
and leading democracy, where the ordinary people are in charge.
After exercising his right to vote, at the Simón Rodríguez Bolivarian National
Ecological School, located in Fuerte Tiuna,
Caracas, the Head of State, insisted that democracy cannot be about going to vote every 4 years.
He also indicated that he will propose to the Federal Governing Council to set concrete goals for all mayors, mayors, governors and
governors to advance the consideration and construction of
6,000 consolidated communes with permanent activity.
Maduro asserted that today Venezuela, the cradle of
freedom in America, does not depend on anything or anyone, “today we walk on our own feet, we
think with our own heads.”
“We have our sovereign politics,
that's why we are able to do the miracles we do (...) Let's not expect anything but from ourselves, let's continue to be happy, always together, building our popular
democracy of the People and for the People,” he added.
