President Maduro on Julian Assange: In the kidnapping he was always a free man

As part of the award ceremony for the Simon Bolivar National Journalism Award 2024, this Monday the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, gave special recognition to the Australian activist Julian Assange for his fight for the truth.

During the ceremony, held in the Ayacucho Hall of the Miraflores Palace, the Head of State emphasized that Assange “is free in the streets today, but he has always been free in the dungeons, in the jails, in the kidnapping he was always a free man”.

Julian here for you, on behalf of all the people of Venezuela, I have the Simon Bolivar National Award with these statuettes from the collection of the great world artist of kineticism Juvenal Ravelo”.

Assange received the Special Prize for claiming courageous journalism without fear in the era of truth with his performance as the essence for defending freedom of expression and the right of peoples to be informed.
