From his Con Maduro+ program this Monday, the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, assured that he ordered the elaboration of a plan to free the Bolivar state from illegal mining and proceed with its reforestation.
He added that “it is a tremendous battle against illegal mining”, so he ordered “the mobilization of the entire Civil Protection system, of the ZODI of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to determine what had happened in the negative event of the mine that left several people dead and the rescue be brought forward”.
He questioned the media treatment given to this event by opposition extremism. “Immediately the extreme right grabbed it as news to release alarming versions and I had to go out and put things in their place and say what had happened,” he said and regretted that for this political sector, “if it's good, they cover it up and if it's hard, difficult, they try to take advantage of it to put our country abroad.”
President Maduro reported that he ordered an investigation “and I already have a preliminary report.” “I now give instructions to Strategic Operational Commander M/G (Domingo) Hernández Lares to proceed to liberate that entire area and to carry out a process of recovery and reforestation that has been attacked and devastated,” he said.
