This Saturday, August 30, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, recalled the historic interview that journalist José Vicente Rangel conducted with Commander Hugo Chávez from the Yare Prison 33 years ago.
“At that moment, the great communicator opened a window for the People to know the voice and thought of a legend, a man who would become the leader of the Fatherland,” said the national president through his Telegram channel.
He also specified that this meeting was not only an interview, but that it sealed an unbreakable friendship and brotherhood. “When José Vicente Rangel met Chávez and his project, he didn't hesitate to support it,” he said.
In addition, he pointed out that “despite the fact that the Fourth Republic censored and banned interviews, its courage allowed us to know the vision of the concrete Bolivarian utopia that we defend. Today, we honor these two giants who, with their word and example, showed us the path of justice and truth.”
