The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, received the sword of Peru after a march held in the city of Caracas to commemorate the bicentenary of his reception by El Libertador, Simon Bolivar.
“I receive it 200 years later with the emancipatory force for the victory of all of South America,” he said and exclaimed that “the sword is alive and walking through Latin America! , Long live Bolivar and his redeeming sword!”
In his words, President Maduro emphasized that “Bolívar lives because his memory and legacy are present, because in the streets of our America everything bears his name and his strength is valid. Today, the surprising, revolutionary people of Caracas in perfect civic - popular - police - military union have taken to the streets to say that Bolivar is the boss, the Commander of the battles of this century”.
He added that “his glorious sword was in the streets receiving again, 200 years later, the cheers and the cheers and cries of love from a people that refused to forget its leader and its Liberator and that today, in the 21st century, will lead all the victories of this time”.
200 years ago, Liberator Simon Bolivar received the Sword of Peru in recognition of his victories in Junín and Ayacucho against Spanish imperialism, which is why this date is so relevant for the country, because it is the Bolivarian Revolution that has restored this sword to its brilliance and power, making it a symbol of the course that will lead the Nation to future victories.
