President Maduro thanks CELAC for solidarity in the face of U.S. aggression in the Caribbean

The President of the Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro thanked the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) for the support expressed through an official statement regarding the escalation of violence by the United States against the country.

“CELAC issued a historic statement that confirms what was approved in Havana in 2014 and that is that Latin America and the Caribbean is a zone of peace,” he said.

He noted that the announcement of the maritime deployment by the United States off the Venezuelan coast completely violates the consensus and agreement that is a decree for the region to be a zone of peace.

“They also placed a nuclear submarine that generated nuclear embarrassment, aimed at a peaceful country. They thought that this country was going to tremble and of course it's going to tremble but with indignation, anger, nationalism and patriotism,” he said.
