This Monday, September 1, the President of the Republic,
Nicolás Maduro, assured his counterpart from the United States, Donald Trump, that “if
he wants to leave peace as a legacy, in Venezuela we are his only allies, if you want real peace.”
“I know that the deep State is not going to leave him, but well he has
left (...) what legacy he wants to leave, if the legacy of peace or
the legacy of blood, of death, of bombs, of missiles,” he said during the press conference
for international media.
He specified that presidents like Barack Obama and George W. Busch cannot
be taken away from the number of innocent victims killed in Libya, Kabul, Afghanistan and Baghdad.
“If you were to ask Nico, that is, not me as president, what
message would you send to Mr. Donald Trump, who is president of the United States, to seek peace and in us
he will always find a helping hand for peace, with
development, independence and dignity,” he said.
He also pointed out to Trump that the policy of “regime change” is an exhausted and failed action in the world. “You cannot pretend to impose a situation on Venezuela, we Venezuelans are the only ones who, in dialogue, harmony, with our differences, problems, strengths and weaknesses must seek our own development,” he said.
