During the swearing in of the Promoting Commission for the Workers' Constituent Assembly, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, urged the Venezuelan Workers' Movement not to allow the repetition of the old methods implemented by the oligarchies in the country during the Fourth Republic.

“ Bureaucratism can never be repeated in the Venezuelan labor movement, corruption or any of the old methods that served the oligarchies in the so-called partisanship of bipartisanism,” he said, stressing the importance of young people and all Venezuelans knowing history.

He recalled that the struggle of the working class during the Fourth Republic, which often had to raise their voices before that machinery “that betrayed the glorious history of our working class at the service of the most corrupt and exploitative layers of the people, who surrendered national sovereignty and our wealth to imperialism”.

He reaffirmed that the working class cannot forget its roots, in order to have an impulse that is “always transformative of the reality that we have to live today, tomorrow and forever”.

At the same time, he affirmed that talking about classism for the workers' movement is different, since it refers to the “working class that produces the wealth of countries, that wants to build socialism so that wealth reaches everyone equally and builds a society of equals; our classism is to produce for collective happiness, for common happiness”.
