President Maduro: Today the great AgroAlba economic productive project is born

This Saturday, December 14, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted that today “the great economic productive project AgroAlba is born, for food sovereignty, organic and healthy food for all the peoples of Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa”.

This was reaffirmed during the XXIV Summit by the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), in Caracas, where it received the document with all the signatures of the Heads of State to consolidate the creation of this new project.

“The new path of ALBA is that of food sovereignty, quality organic food united so that the earth flourishes,” he said, stressing that this project will implement agroecological production methods to take care of the planet.

He explained that these methods are regenerative for the earth and free of “poison, no poison, no transgenic seed, yes to life; it has been demonstrated by new production methods that yield more per hectare with new forms of land production, without the need for transgenic seeds, without the need for poison that kills the earth, that contaminates water”.

He stressed that “while elsewhere they are proposing to pollute rivers, seas and lands (...) the AgroAlba project aims to rescue the land and make it productive for the security and food sovereignty of our entire region and to say security, it is food sovereignty, that is to say economic independence”.
