President Maduro: Venezuela is in a special period of maximum preparation for threats

President Nicolás Maduro said that Venezuela is in a special period of maximum preparation for the pressure exerted by the Government of the United States of America in the Caribbean.

During a meeting with national and international media, Maduro asserted that under any circumstance the Bolivarian Government will guarantee the functioning of the country.

“We have a strategic plan that has been designed for 20 years and has been adapted, renewed, because it is the strategic concept of defense of the country, our strategy is eminently defensive and that strategic concept includes two forms of struggle,” he said.

In that sense, he explained that the two forms of struggle include the non-armed one, which is to organize, produce, prepare and form the diplomatic, political and enlistment struggle. “The second is armed, if Venezuela were attacked, it would immediately enter a period of armed struggle in defense of national territory and history,” he said.

“We would constitutionally declare the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in an armed struggle to guarantee the peace, sovereignty and development of the country, in any circumstance that touches us. We are people who work for peace, but who are prepared to guarantee it,” he said.
