The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized that Venezuela “is taking gigantic leaps in the practice of a new democracy and that is what burns with the empire, because we do believe in the people and we open the door to the youth.”
At a working meeting at the Miraflores Palace, with the Council of Sectorial Vice-Presidents and the Youth General Staff, he stated that after this consultation, a further step has been taken to consolidate the new democracy because the Bolivarian Revolution believes in youth and gives power to this sector of the population.
“The democracy of permanent participation and decision, of the everyday, of the daily, that empowers, educates and trains millions of men and women in conscience,” he said.
He also rejected the old method of decadent, bourgeois, neoliberal democracy, in which only those who have economic power participate.
He specified that no country in Europe involves young people in choosing their community projects or in any other area of the country.
He argued that 200 years ago, Liberator Simon Bolivar raised the flag of independence republicanism to include two key elements: true guaranteed freedom and equality, so that popular sovereignty exists.
