The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, assured that sooner rather than later “Venezuela will recover its key role in the world's energy equation and security.”

“We are at a good pace to develop (the industry) oil,” he said in the Digital Zone segment in his 86th edition of the program “With Maduro+”, referring to the approach of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), to the effect that the era of oil has not ended and the world will demand more crude oil until 2050, whose consumption will increase by 20%.

“These are quite optimistic estimates that they make and what, if true, is that Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world,” he said.

He stressed that the reserve has increased “in recent years due to new recovery factors, which make us recalculate higher than the oil reserve estimated in 2007.”

Venezuela will continue to work and produce oil for global development,” he stressed.
