The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, warned this Monday that the visit of the Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, to Ecuador represents a threat to regional stability, while denouncing the use of foreign policy in the North American country as a tool for destabilization and the expansion of drug trafficking.

Marco Rubio doesn't come for anything good. Have absolute security. Its presence in Ecuador responds to the most extreme interests of Mayamera politics, which seeks to impose subordinate governments and open new wars in the region,” said the Venezuelan head of state during a press conference with international media.

Maduro noted that the meeting between Rubio and Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa aims to intensify and infest Latin America and the Caribbean with drug trafficking, while denouncing that Ecuador has become a second Colombia, as it is used as a nerve center for transporting drugs to the United States.

Noboa's certified companies are involved in drug trafficking camouflaged in banana exports,” he stressed.

He also reported that 87% of Colombian drugs are transported across the Pacific Ocean, with Ecuador as the new logistics epicenter, while only 5% try to cross Venezuela, where “they encounter the rifles of our Bolivarian National Armed Forces and our police.”

Maduro urged the Ecuadorian and Colombian military to remain vigilant against Washington's destabilization plans.

““Rubio must know that he is going to meet with a president imposed by fraud, the head of a mafia that traffics drugs on a large scale. The DEA, the CIA and the FBI know this. Everyone knows. But they want weak presidents, puppets, who don't represent the dignity of their peoples,” he said.
