The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reaffirmed his commitment to the rescue and release of children kidnapped by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“One of
the tasks I have set out to do is to rescue and release all the boys and girls
kidnapped by ICE,” he said and appealed
to the human and Christian conscience of the First Lady of the United States,
Melania Trump, to read the letter from the mothers of the more than 70 abducted boys and girls.
He stressed that Venezuela will assert the
rights of all children and migrants kidnapped in the United States and who have experienced
difficult situations of “psychological and physical torture, ill-treatment,
imprisonment without trial, without the right to defense.”
“We will continue to care for our migrants, recover them, and when they arrive in Venezuela, give them special attention from the communities,” he said.
