President Xi Jinping calls for strengthening socialism with Chinese characteristics

In the framework of the 120th anniversary of the birth of Deng Xiaoping, the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping called for strengthening socialism with characteristics implemented by his country.

The president highlighted the historic advances of the deceased leader “he made outstanding contributions to the Party, to the people, to the country, to the nation and to the world.”

At a commemorative ceremony, he praised Deng's central role in China's transformation, calling him the principal architect of the reforms that boosted the country's development.

Xi stressed the importance of applying Deng Xiaoping's theory, who combined socialism with China's own peculiarities, which was considered key to continuing to advance the modernization and consolidation of the country.

Deng left an indelible mark on the history of China and the world, said the Chinese president, adding that his legacy remains a source of inspiration.

The head of state of the Asian giant also highlighted Deng's role after the Cultural Revolution, when he led the Communist Party and the nation towards a transformation that allowed China to adapt to Marxism in its own context.
