Presidents of Venezuela and Iran strengthen friendly relations

The foreign minister, Yván Gil, through an official statement reported about a telephone conversation between President Nicolás Maduro and his counterpart from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mahmoud Pesheskian.

The State letter highlights that both leaders highlighted relations between the two countries and agreed to “celebrate in style, during the month of August, the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations”.

Presidents Nicolas Maduro Moros, of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and Mahmoud Pesheskian, of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held a telephone conversation this Monday characterized by the cordiality, friendship and spirit of cooperation that unites both nations.

During the exchange, they evaluated the excellent state of the bilateral relationship, agreed that strategic cooperation between Iran and Venezuela is going “from strength to strength”, and agreed to celebrate in style, during the month of August, the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Both leaders ratified the commitments established in the framework of the 20-year Strategic Cooperation Agreement, signed in 2022, and expressed their willingness to continue deepening collaboration in key sectors such as energy, science, technology, health, agriculture and industry.

President Pesheskian expressed his gratitude for Venezuela's firm solidarity in the face of the recent Zionist aggression against Iran, and expressed his full support for the Venezuelan proposal to convene a World Summit for Peace and Against War, aimed at promoting a just and comprehensive solution to the crisis in Western Asia, with priority attention to the cause of the Palestinian people.

For his part, President Nicolás Maduro expressed his confidence that through diplomacy the right of the Iranian people to peace and development can be consolidated.
