The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, held a telephone conversation this Thursday with his counterpart from the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to strengthen the friendship and strategic alliance between the two nations.

In a statement, released by the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, it was reported that both leaders evaluated the preparations for the next High-Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN), “to be held in Caracas in 2026, with the objective of advancing the Joint Plan for Development towards 2030, which will guide strategic cooperation in the years to come.”

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, held an important telephone conversation today, in which both heads of state reaffirmed the strategic, solid and ascending nature of bilateral relations, based on cooperation, friendship and mutual respect.

During the exchange, both leaders celebrated the results of the recent High-Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN), where 19 agreements were signed on all fronts of work, demonstrating the vitality and depth of the comprehensive alliance between Venezuela and Russia. They also evaluated the preparations for the next CIAN, to be held in Caracas in 2026, with the objective of advancing the Joint Plan for Development towards 2030, which will guide strategic cooperation in the years to come.

President Maduro also emphasized the importance of continuing to consolidate advances in air and maritime connectivity between the two countries. He stressed that Venezuela already has direct routes to Moscow and St. Petersburg, and both leaders agreed to deepen and expand these initiatives, recognizing their key role in strengthening economic, tourist and cultural exchanges.

On the political level, President Vladimir Putin firmly and categorically confirmed his support and support for President Nicolás Maduro in national efforts to consolidate peace, political stability, economic development and social protection of the Venezuelan people. He stressed that the Venezuelan people deserve absolute respect in their legitimate struggle for the defense of their sovereignty and independence.

President Maduro, for his part, informed his Russian counterpart about the sustained progress of Venezuela, which is winning the battle for peace, economic growth and social stability, and stressed that the country is projected to lead regional economic growth of 9% this year, according to expected estimates. President Putin said he was fully informed of these developments and congratulated the Bolivarian Government for these results.

President Putin reiterated that the channels of direct communication between the two nations remain permanently open, and assured that Russia will continue to support Venezuela in its struggle to assert its sovereignty, international law and peace throughout Latin America, making its diplomatic capacity available to strengthen cooperation in these essential matters.

Finally, both presidents recalled that more than 20 years of firm and fruitful cooperation have been celebrated, since Commander Hugo Chávez and President Vladimir Putin gave rise to a strategic relationship that today continues to strengthen for the benefit of both peoples.
