The Professional and Technical Movement of Venezuela held this Thursday, in Caracas, the national plenary session corresponding to the closing of the first phase of the constituent process of social movements convened by President Nicolás Maduro last October.
From Caracas, the sectoral vice-president for Social and Territorial Socialism, Héctor Rodríguez, congratulated this movement for the remarkable growth it has experienced in recent years, today being “one of the most organized and consolidated” in the country.
After receiving the conclusions and proposals that emerged from the 1,447 meetings held throughout the territory, Rodríguez urged professionals and technicians to develop “a plan to make them a reality”, and “to be clear about why and why”.
“Real democracy deserves collective organization, it deserves to build consensus and that it doesn't just remain in the slogan, but that it is part of decision-making (...) We have a historic responsibility to make the country that (Simon) Bolívar and (Hugo) Chávez dreamed of,” he said.
In the same way, according to a press release, Rodríguez asked to continue consolidating the organization, based on having a presence in all sectors and in all the communes and communal circuits of the country. “There can be no commune in this country where the movement is not there, but not because there is nothing else, but to do, to think and make a country,” he said.
The constituent process of social movements began in October with the creation of promotional teams, followed in November with a great debate in all spaces that will take place during the first half of December with national congresses by sector.
