The social psychologist Fernando Giuliani said that the national emergency generated by the simultaneous earthquakes of Wednesday, June 24, must become “a moment of union that brings together the mechanism of all sectors of Venezuela, regardless of ideological differences.”

The specialist explained that the magnitude of the tragedy requires the removal of political leadership to concentrate collective efforts on the well-being of the population affected by the earthquake disaster.

“That is the place where we must all meet, in union, in solidarity, because that is really what we are as Venezuelans. This situation will be left behind, and the experience will further strengthen community ties,” said Giulani, a member of the Psychologists for Socialism Collective, and emphasized that this process should not be limited to the leadership but must “be stitched from the core of families and communities upwards.”

Finally, the expert stressed that social reconstruction in the face of this crisis will be based on the natural solidarity of Venezuelan culture and the resilience demonstrated by the population in recent years. He affirmed that, although the process of overcoming will be marked by the pain of bereaved families, the country will be able to leave behind this tragic test if it is firmly united, strengthened and focused on hope for the future.
