Authorities from the Public Ministry (MP) carried out an inspection this Friday at the Jardines La Esperanza municipal cemetery, located in the state of La Guaira.
The objective of the activity was to verify the procedure applied for the burial of people who died in the state after the two earthquakes that hit Venezuela.
The Attorney General of the Republic, Larry Devoe Márquez, led this visit in the context of the five lines of action prioritized by the MP for emergency care caused by the seismic events of June 24.
During the tour, which was accompanied by the mayor of the Vargas municipality, José Manuel Suárez, and authorities from the National Service of Medicine and Forensic Sciences (Senamecf), the Attorney General and the multidisciplinary team of the MP confirmed strict compliance with national regulations, as well as the application of international standards relating to the management of bodies in situations of natural disasters, as part of an articulated work between various State institutions.
The Public Prosecutor's Office, in compliance with its constitutional and legal powers, maintains a permanent presence in morgues prepared to deal with the emergency decreed by the National Executive. It also actively participates, through its prosecutors and forensic personnel, in the process of identifying deceased persons and in granting the permits required by law for the corresponding burial.
