The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, said on Tuesday that the global geopolitical system is undergoing a profound transformation where Western powers lose their hegemony in the face of the sustained growth of the nations of the Global South.
During an intervention quoted by Russia Today (RT), the president pointed out that the traditional structures of international relations are being replaced by new emerging centers of power.
“Previous approaches and established norms and rules of business and international relations are gradually losing their validity, in part due to the actions of Western States, which are losing their leadership and giving way to new centers of growth: the countries of the Global South,” said the Eurasian leader. Putin emphasized that this paradigm shift responds to the exhaustion of the models imposed by the West, which can no longer contain the dynamism of developing economies.
According to the Russian president, the world is currently moving towards a “more complex and multipolar” global development architecture.
In this new scenario, Putin emphasized that nations that understand and value the importance of national sovereignty in the political, economic, cultural and social spheres play an increasingly prominent and decisive role in decision-making on a global scale.
The Russian president stressed that mutual respect and self-determination are the pillars of this new order in formation. According to his vision, the strengthening of the countries of the Global South not only represents a change in economic statistics, but also the birth of a more balanced international system, where the plurality of voices and the end of unilateralism set the tone for future growth.
