Quintero: Historically we will have two electoral processes on the same day

The vice-president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Carlos Quintero, stressed that on July 27, two simultaneous electoral processes will be held for the first time in the country's democratic history: the municipal election in 335 municipalities and the III National Popular Consultation.

“This day will be possible thanks to the technical, logistical and human deployment of the CNE, as well as the commitment of its officials who, in just 60 days, consolidated both schedules with an increase of 85%,” he said after the auditing process to the voting machines.

The vice-president announced that before the elections, two key audits will be carried out to consolidate the chain of trust: the zeroing audit, which will certify that all the configurations of the national totalization centers are zero before the event; and the telecommunications audit - phase I, aimed at verifying the correct functioning of the channels for transmitting results. Both will be attended by technicians from organizations for political purposes.

He indicated that election day will have 1 thousand 24 contingency transmission centers across the country, 93 thousand 104 duly trained table members and 60 thousand 515 electoral technicians to ensure the proper functioning of the machines. In addition, “Operation Republic” will be activated with the deployment of 379,989 officials to protect the process.

“July 27 will be a day of citizenship and sovereignty, where organized youth will define collective priorities and the country will renew its local leadership,” he said.
