The rector of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Carlos Quintero, indicated that there are 99.30% opening of polling stations across the country for the elections of Community Judges and Judges of the Peace that take place this December 15.

“There are some tables that need to be reported in remote places, surely we are already at 100%, which is good news because the electoral protocol is complied with,” Quintero said during a press conference.

He recommended the website of the Communes where it reflects the voting centers of each communal circuit, preferably in their area of residence.

He specified that this election day began at 8:00am and will end at 6:00pm.

“This has been a positive experience for the Electoral Commission and it has made an effort to fulfill this function as established in article 258 of the Constitution,” he emphasized while inviting Venezuelans to participate in this democratic festival.

For her part, the president of the Constitutional Chamber and second vice-president of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), Tania D'Amelio, recalled that 25 years ago the People elected a new Magna Carta that today makes possible elections for Communal Judges and Judges of the Peace.

“Venezuela today is moving by Popular Power and 25 years ago we were moving as the Venezuelan people exercising our right to vote and we managed to achieve more than 71% voted yes to this Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which is not allowing that article 258 to crystallize today,” he said.

He welcomed these new elections that allow Venezuelans to be protagonists of their participatory democracy.

“We hope that when the process closes the participation will be spectacular as well as a historic day like more than that 71% or a good percentage,” he said.
