This Thursday, December 12, the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, highlighted that today “science, technology, innovation, research and education are fundamental engines for national independence” and the country's economic development.

In this regard, during the 25th Edition of the World Forum on Special Economic Zones and the Transition to New Economic Models, he emphasized that this is why the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, in the Plan of the Seven Transformations, has established these elements as essential engines for the nation.

“For independent development, to break even more with the remaining ties of Western economic colonialism,” he said, recalling that Venezuela had decades of dependence on Western technology and science, and although progress has been made, “there are still many spaces where we are dependent.”

He stressed that this dependence is what has made the country vulnerable to the economic blockade, which created real social wounds in the country, “that is why research, innovation, science, technology and education must be a fundamental engine for national independence and is thus established in one of the 7 transformations,” he reiterated.
