Russia condemns Israel's attack on a school in Gaza City

The spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, expressed on behalf of her nation the shock generated by the Israeli attack on a school in Gaza City.

The spokeswoman highlighted the “systematic nature” of the Israeli attacks against the civilian population of the enclave, as stated by the

“We note with regret that these types of attacks in the Gaza Strip, whose victims are civilians, are systematic. We call on the Israeli side to refrain from attacking civilian targets,” Zakharova said.

“Tragedies such as the one that occurred today at school undermine international efforts aimed at reducing the seriousness in the area of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, declaring a ceasefire, and exchanging hostages for prisoners,” he added in statements collected by the Russian agency TASS.

He recalled that the Hamas authorities have reported Israeli attacks against 13 schools and centers for displaced persons in Gaza, during this last month alone, in bombings that “have no justification”.

Finally, he pointed out the need for the immediate implementation of the resolutions contemplated in the UN Charter, to sanction this type of criminal action
