The spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, María Zajárova, congratulated the Venezuelan people for the success in the regional and legislative elections held this Sunday, May 25 in the South American nation.

The diplomat noted that “the elections were held in an organized manner, at a high level and without violations,” according to the testimony of international observers, including the Russian delegation, with representatives of the Federation Council, the State Duma and the Central Electoral Commission.

“The country's strong identification system and protection against unauthorized voting, as well as the scanning of identity documents and the verification of fingerprints, effectively eliminated the possibility of any fraud,” Zajárova said.

In this regard, he congratulated Venezuelans “for the successful expression of the will of the people.” “We confirm our fundamental commitment to continue strengthening relations between our countries in the spirit of strategic partnership and to continue close coordination in international and regional forums,” he emphasized.
