This Thursday, the remote Kamchatka Peninsula, located in the extreme east of the Russian Federation, continued this Thursday under constant seismic shocks after the powerful earthquake of magnitude 8.8 that hit the region on Wednesday, Telesur said.

This is the strongest earthquake since 1952 in this area, it is also the eighth most intense earthquake recorded globally, surpassed this century by the one that occurred in Tohoku (Japan) in 2011, which reached 9.1.

The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 20.7 kilometers, generated a series of at least eight aftershocks in just one hour, with intensities ranging between 4.5 and 6.7 degrees, according to the Russian Unified Geophysical Service.
