The
Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, held
a meeting with the families of those arrested for the
post-election violence of July 28, in connection with the International Day of Human Rights.
According to information published on the Venezolana de
Televisión (VTV) web portal, the families of the detainees expressed their “rejection
of the opposition for using those deprived of their liberty as a political flag,
when it was they themselves who used them to generate the violent context
”.
“They
do not want to be misused by
extremist political factors that were responsible and that now would like the best or have
sought to use family members and detainees after they incited
and abetted them, as if they were cannon fodder,” said the Prosecutor.
“We
explained to the relatives today something that I am going to confirm to you:
All the revisions of measures that could be carried out so far are
attributable to the Venezuelan State and to the organs of justice. By reviewing the
cases, we can reach procedural conclusions, I repeat, that may
mean a review of the measure and bring us to trial later in
those cases that result in a conviction,” he said.
